What if I have Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP)
The federally-run Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP) will offer transitional coverage to you if you are currently enrolled in PCIP and have not yet secured other health insurance, from January 1, 2014 through January 31, 2014.

Taking Steps to Smooth Consumers' Transition Into Health Coverage Through the Marketplace

  • HHS has announced an intent to push back the deadline to apply for coverage that would begin January 1, 2014.  That previous deadline was December 15, 2013.  It is now December 23, 2013.
  • The move gives individuals another week to apply for coverage but payments will still have to be received before coverage can start.
  • Consumers will still have until March 31 to enroll.
